The speaker of the House of Representatives Hon. Tajudeen Abbas has blamed high cost of food inflations unemployment and high cost of living in the country as a result of Farmers/Herders Clashes.
The speaker who was represented by the Deputy Speaker of the House Hon. Benjamin Kalu at the inauguration of the adhoc committee at the national assembly on Monday.
The committee is to interface with relevant stakeholders to resolve the current clashes between farmers and herders and their neighbouring local government area,s including other religions of the country.
The speaker lamented the severe consequences including the restriction of farmers from access to their farmlands, leading to food price inflation, unemployment and a high cost of living in the country amongst others.
Chairman of the Adhoc Committee Hon. Aliyu Bappa Misau assured that the committee will ensure it fosters improved understanding while advising that there is need for the federal government to mitigate the challenges faced by Communities affected.
Stakeholders at the event sued for peace and peaceful resolution to address the crisis for the good of the country.
