The joint Union of the National Assembly, Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria (PASAN) and National Assembly Service Commission (NASC) on Thursday resolved to embark on indefinite strike if their pending demands are not met.
The union in the statement made available to Dargic news is requesting for full implementation of subsisting memorandum jointly signed by management of National Assembly seeking payment of all arrears for staff for the 2021 fiscal year.
In the statement jointly signed on behalf of PASAN by Sunday Sabiyyi Chairman and the Chairman National Assembly Service Commission, Ojemeri Oisamaye
In a Communiqué of the Joint Congress of the Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria, NASC and NASS held on 28th March, 2022, demanded the full implementation of the subsisting Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) jointly signed by the National Assembly Service Commission, Management of the National Assembly Service, and PASAN on the 13th of April, 2021 for the Arrears of the 2021 fiscal year should be paid to all categories of staff in the National Assembly Service not later than 31st May, 2022.
“Due the expiration of the deadline of 31st May 2022, the two Chapters (NASC and NASS) of the Association held a Congress today 2nd June 2022 and resolved to embark on an indefinite Strike from 12 midnight on Sunday 5th June, 2022”.
The statement urged all the affected staff to comply immediately.
