The Senate Committee on FCT on Tuesday asks the Federal Capital Territory Authority (FCTA) to speed the completion of Kyarmi district, and commence work immediately at the Adamu Aleiro (Maitama extension).
The committee chairman Senator Smart Adeyemi stated this in Abuja during the meeting with some department of FCTA on the request for submission of the project contractor Kataka Ce Limited and the response from Shehu Hadi Ahmad, the Executive Secretary of the FCTA.
Responding, the FCTA Executive Secretary assured the committee that the authority have set motion in place for the completion of Kyarmi and the process for a truce from the Army authority to enable the commencement of Adamu Aleiro (Maitama extension project..
Meanwhile , the Committee came hard on the poor presentation of budget performance of 2022 and inability of some departments and agencies to appear before it with relevant documents.
One of the department the committee pointed out is transportation, that came without appropriate documents and we’re dismissed to return with accurate documents to match their presentation.
It will be recalled that the Committee Chairman Senator Smart Adeyemi had earlier enumerated the needs for the FCTA authority and it various departments and agencies to appear before it for budget defense, stating that his committee can only present and defense their budget before the rest of the senators with adequate knowledge from the horse’s mouth.
Besides, the Senate enjoined the legal department of the FCTA to advise appropriately, saying that they were not properly guided legally.
On the Area Council Secretariat, the Senate seeks to know the functions of the secretariat of which information provided to them were sketching, a situation that got the members of the committee wondering why the office.
