The President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio, has vehemently denied reports of an impending impeachment against him, labeling the allegations as fake news and a product of misinformation.
In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Hon. Eseme Eyiboh, Senator Akpabio dismissed the claims as the work of “fifth columnists” seeking to disrupt the unity within the Senate.
The online publication, OrderPaper Nigeria, had published a story suggesting that the Department of State Services had taken over the National Assembly amid rumors of an impeachment plot against Senator Akpabio. However, the Senate President has refuted these claims and assured the public that there is no truth to the allegations.
Senator Akpabio reiterated his commitment to the legislative agenda of the 10th Senate and emphasized that he remains focused on addressing key national issues for the benefit of all Nigerians.
The statement urged the public to disregard the baseless claims and instead pay attention to the Senate’s efforts in improving the lives of citizens and promoting national development.
