The Federal Government has announced that more than 10 million Nigerians have accessed essential healthcare services through the Basic Healthcare Provision Fund (BHCPF). Coordinating Minister for Health and Social Welfare, Prof.
Muhammad Ali Pate, made the revelation during the 9th meeting of the oversight ministerial committee on BHCPF, held on December 19, 2024, at the Hawthorn Suites Hotel, Abuja.
Prof. Pate highlighted the significant progress under President Tinubu’s administration, which has seen a sharp increase in funding and expansion of primary healthcare services, benefiting the nation’s most vulnerable populations.
This success aligns with the government’s sector-wide approach to improve healthcare delivery across the country.
In his statement, Prof. Pate emphasized that the ministry is enhancing the governance structure for disbursement, ensuring that funds reach those in need.
He also urged Nigerians to monitor and report any discrepancies they observe at healthcare facilities”It’s been appreciated, approved by the President and acquired by the President just one year ago” Pate stated.
Dr. Mukhtar Yawale, Coordinator of the BHCPF, commended the unprecedented growth in Nigeria’s health sector, noting the effective collaboration between national and international donors.
With the Health Sector Renewal Investment Initiative (NHSRII) making strides, officials are optimistic about sustaining this momentum in 2025.
