The Chairman of the House Committee on Sports, Honourable Kabiru Amadu, has hailed the Super Eagles B’s qualification for the 2025 Championship of African Nations (CHAN) as a positive indicator for Nigeria’s 2026 FIFA World Cup hopes.
Following their 3-1 victory over Ghana at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo, Amadu expressed confidence that this achievement signals a brighter future for Nigerian football, despite the current challenges faced by the senior national team in the World Cup qualifiers.
“This victory is a sign of greater things to come,” said Honourable Amadu. “It’s been seven years since Nigeria qualified for CHAN, and this success proves that we have the potential to achieve even bigger feats, including securing a spot in the 2026 World Cup.”
Amadu congratulated the Super Eagles B and the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) for their determination and success, urging them to capitalize on this achievement to build momentum going into 2025.
He emphasized the need for early preparations for the CHAN finals, set to take place in February 2025 in Tanzania, Kenya, and Uganda.
The Chairman also expressed optimism that the Super Eagles could still overcome the odds and qualify for the World Cup, despite their current standing in the qualifiers.
“This success has rekindled the hope of many Nigerians,” he said, adding, “With continued hard work and unity, I believe our three-time African champions can make us proud on the world stage.”
