By Comfort Olayinka
Honourable Climent Jimbo, a member of the House of Representatives, has boasted of empowering his constituents with a tipper, setting a new standard in Nigeria. According to Jimbo, who represents Abak/Etim Ekpo/Ika Federal Constituency in the 10th Assembly, this is the first time in the history of political empowerment in Nigeria that a politician has given a tipper to their constituents.
Jimbo disclosed that he donated the tipper to the “Tipper Loaders Association” in his constituency, fulfilling his campaign promise to them. He claimed that this gesture has elevated the standard of living of the beneficiaries, who were previously just loaders, and has brought them joy and empowerment. Jimbo also noted that none of his predecessors has achieved what he has in less than two years in terms of empowerment and representation.
In addition to his empowerment efforts, Jimbo expressed optimism about his bill on the Establishment of the National Commission for Technology Transfer, Acquisition, and Promotion. He believes that the bill, which aims to add value to Nigeria’s raw materials and promote technology transfer, will be passed for third reading in the House and receive assent from the President.
Jimbo also commented on the recent increase in the 2025 budget from N49.7 trillion to N54.2 trillion, stating that it was a result of the parliamentarians’ efforts to ensure that every development component was captured in the budget. He noted that his committee on National Planning and Economy Development worked with the Finance and Appropriation committees to address the complaints of the MDAs and advise the executive on the necessary adjustments.
The representative’s efforts have been recognized in the past, with him receiving an honorary award as “Ujo Abak Federal Constituency” for his dedication and contribution to effective representation.
