The Chairman House Committee on Sports, Hon Kabiru Amadu has assures Nigerians of a bright future for sports under President Bola Tinubu, emphasizing substantial government investment and the potential of the Super Eagles in the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

In celebration of the International Day of Sports, Hon Kabiru Amadu, representing the Gusau/Tsafe Federal constituency, reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to fostering positive change through sports.

He noted that under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, sports in Nigeria are poised for a resurgence, bringing back the glory days when the nation excelled on the global stage.

Amadu highlighted the significant investment in sports, particularly President Tinubu’s approval of a remarkable N94 billion budget for the National Sports Commission in 2025. “This increase in funding is a clear sign that the government is serious about supporting sports development and ensuring that Nigeria returns to its former glory in international competitions,” said Amadu.

He emphasized that the International Day of Sports is not just a celebration, but an opportunity to recognize the achievements of Nigerian athletes and inspire the next generation to surpass past records.

Addressing concerns about football, Amadu expressed unwavering confidence in the Super Eagles’ potential to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, despite recent challenges. “We believe in the Super Eagles, and we remain hopeful that they will secure a spot at the 2026 World Cup co-hosted by the USA, Canada, and Mexico,” he said.

The Honourable also stressed that sports are a powerful tool for unity and positive change, bridging divides and promoting national cohesion. As the country moves forward, Amadu’s optimism reflects a broader belief in sports’ ability to drive Nigeria’s success on the world stage.
