Amid growing political endorsements and mounting opposition criticism, Sen Orji Uzo Kalu has declared unwavering support for President Bola Tinubu, insisting that the ruling party All Progressives Congress (APC) has no fear of any emerging coalitions.
Speaking in an exclusive interview, he emphasized the party’s commitment to national development, citing ongoing grassroots industrial projects as evidence of their dedication to job creation and economic growth.
“There is nothing like fear. We are the ruling party, passionate about Nigeria. The opposition’s role is to criticize—that’s their job. But our job is to deliver, and we are doing that excellently,” he stated.
Addressing concerns over the President’s visit to the Vatican, Kalu revealed that Tinubu had received a personal invitation from the Pope, who he described as a longtime friend of the President. “He couldn’t have disobeyed the Pope. As a Catholic myself, I deeply appreciate his obedience,” he added.
He also confirmed that Southeast senators had long endorsed President Tinubu for re-election, even ahead of the national announcement. “We were the first to endorse. The Southeast caucus is fully on board,” he said, donning a symbolic outfit reflecting their commitment.
Sen Kalu also defended Tinubu’s economic policies, including the removal of fuel subsidies and currency reforms. “Nigerians are suffering now, yes, but these policies are laying the foundation for real economic change. We must learn to work hard again,” he said.
Looking ahead to 2027, he pledged a shift in focus to agriculture, citing his success as former governor in mobilizing citizens for farming. “Agriculture will be the centerpiece of our next phase. It’s not just about roads and schools anymore,” he said.
On his consistent recognition as Best Sen Kalu deflected credit to the people and his foundation’s work in local communities. “Leadership must be about lifting people up. That’s my passion,” he concluded.
As for his unique pro-Tinubu attire, he revealed it’s already gaining popularity among supporters. “I’m not the first to wear it. Nigerians with a gold eye can spot it. It’s for our President—your President,” he said with a smile.
This endorsement comes as political alignments begin to solidify ahead of the 2027 elections, with regional blocs beginning to declare their loyalties early in what is shaping up to be a fiercely contested race.
