By Becky Anyam.
For too long, Benue State has endured waves of violent attacks by armed herders and extremist groups. These relentless raids have left a trail of killings, destroyed homes, ruined farmlands and collapsed businesses. The impact has been devastating — not only on lives and livelihoods but on the very soul of our state. Across Zones A, B and C, no community has been spared. Thousands have been buried in mass graves, and nearly a million of our people now live as displaced persons in overcrowded camps — a tragedy that has drawn the eyes of the world.
Dr.Jeffrey Kuraun’s Security Strategy.
- Benue State Border Patrol Corps (BSBPC)
A dedicated security outfit will be established, recruiting young Benue men and women. They will be trained and equipped with modern surveillance and intelligence tools, with permanent bases in all border communities. Their mandate: constant patrol, early warning, and rapid response to neutralise threats before they escalate. - Partnership with Federal Security Agencies
The BSBPC will not work in isolation. It will be professionally structured and deployed to operate hand-in-hand with the Nigeria Police Force and the NSCDC, ensuring discipline, coordination and effectiveness. - Youth Empowerment through Security.
This initiative will create thousands of dignified jobs for Benue youths, turning them from idle hands into guardians of their communities — reducing crime and restoring public confidence.
The R.R.R. Framework — Rebuilding Lives.
Rehabilitation: Our displaced people have lost far more than property — they have lost family, peace of mind, and dignity. Government under Dr.Jeffrey Kuraun will meet their immediate needs: healthcare, safe shelter, food security, and free or subsidised education for their children.
Relocation:Once peace and security are firmly established in our border communities, our people will return home — not as victims, but as owners of their land — to rebuild, farm, and trade without fear.
Reintegration: No one will be left behind or treated as second-class citizens. Schools, health centres and markets will be rebuilt. The IDPs will return to normal life, free from stigma and fully part of Benue’s revival.
Dr.Kuraun holds firmly to one conviction: without security, there can be no economy, no farming, no education — no future. Peace is the foundation, and he is prepared to lay it.
Benue does not merely need a governor; it needs a restorer. In Dr.Jeffrey Kuraun, we find not just an aspirant, but the ideal candidate whose vision and courage can transform our state and revive its lost glory.
