The ongoing investigation of job Racketeering, The House of Representatives has formally submitted a petition to the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), responding to allegations of bribery implicating certain members of the House. This follow the allegations of Bribery by Federal Polytechnic Rectors, accusing members of extortion.
Chairman of the House Adhoc Committee Investigating Employment Racketeering in Ministries, Departments, and Agencies, Honorable Yusuf Gagdi, made this announcement during the committee’s session on Thursday. He emphasized the committee’s determination to persevere and reveal its findings publicly, rebuffing any attempts at intimidation. He expressed his commitment to transparency in the committee’s proceedings and welcomed the participation of Federal Polytechnic rectors, highlighting the openness of the discussions.
Gagdi stated, “We are not scared. We will go on with this committee and will publicly present our recommendations. Nobody will blackmail any member of this committee, and I will not remain silent as the chairman. We are involving investigative agencies to examine this matter. Attempts to label us as a corrupt committee due to our exposure of irregularities and fraud within government agencies, financed by taxpayers’ money, will not deter us.”
The petition’s primary aim is to initiate an investigation into the alleged bribery, with a strong emphasis on promoting transparency, accountability, and upholding the highest ethical standards within the legislative body.
