A National Chairmanship aspirant of All Progressives Congress (APC) Abdulaziz Yari says he is in the race to give the party purposeful leadership if given opportunity.
Abdulaziz Yari stated this while speaking with newsmen in Abuja on Tuesday after a meeting with the APC house Representative Caucus.
While reacting to the party’s leadership, zoning the chairmanship position to the North-Central, Yari who is from the North-west said zoning is not what party need for now but the leader that can move the party forward, said he wasn’t aware of any zoning.
“I didn’t know the issue of zoning because it was not informed about on any zoning, I only saw in social media.
“I have picked form and we are ready to meet at the ballot,” he said.
Yari, a former governor of Zamfara who frowned at zoning further said that members of the party were trying to break that jinx and then “embrace real democracy.”
While at the meeting with the caucus, Yari said that he was at the house of Rep to solicit the support of the members.
“Im here to solicit your support. I believe we have been working together and we can work together.”
He said that the party needed people that were tested and trusted to handle the affairs of the party.
“We need people that are focused, determined and trusted in the past with responsibilities and delivered their responsibilities.
“It is not about where you are from but about what you have done in the past and what people think you can do.”
He said that he was optimistic that the part would get the end result by 2023.
Receiving the delegations, the leader of the house Alhaji Ado Dogowa said “APC is at a cross road ,he urge his colleagues to support one of their own who has be trusted in the past.
He asked all the aspirant to play the game in the interest of the party as every step taken by party will determine the success of the party in the next generation election.
“The nearer we get to Saturday, the better the prospects and our hopes that all of those challenges will become a thing of the past.
“All we seek in the house of representative is a strong and united APC that will come out of this convention and step forward to win the next elections.
“We have an obligation as a party to disappoint our opponents, who are waiting for bad news from us.
“We want a leader that can speak truth to power, a leader that has the capacity to arrest and bring together every ego, a leader that can make us understand that collectively, we are bigger than our individual selves”.
