The Arewa Youth Assembly has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to intervene and stop the persistent attacks on the Group Chief Executive Officer (GCEO) of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), Dr. Mele Kolo Kyari.
Mohammed Salihu Danlami, Speaker of the Arewa Youth Assembly, alleged that the attacks are orchestrated by insiders, specifically senior management staff seeking to replace Kyari. Danlami claimed these individuals are motivated by selfish desires and are fighting against Kyari’s reforms.
According to Danlami, the attacks have taken various forms, including sponsored media campaigns, slander, blackmail, and organized protests. He emphasized that these actions not only harm Kyari but also hinder the ongoing reforms and impact the economy.
The Arewa Youth Assembly urged President Tinubu to intervene, citing the critical role NNPCL plays in the country’s economy and the potential damage to his Renewed Hope Agenda. Danlami stressed the need to protect Kyari and ensure the continuation of his reforms.
“Driven by their selfish and unpatriotic desires, they have used all known tactics to cast asperion on the person of the GCEO, they have sponsored media campaigns, slander, blackmail and have gone as far as organising protests against the GCEO.”
“To this effect, we plead with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to urgently intervene and put an end to these senseless and baseless attacks. They are impacting negatively on the GCEO, distracting him from the on going reforms and because of the importance and centrality of the NNPCL to the economy of this country, these attacks are also injurious to the economic reforms and restructuring of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as well as to the Promise of renewed hope agenda.”
