The Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau I. Jibrin, has issued a strong directive to security agencies to launch an aggressive crackdown on bandits terrorizing communities in Tsanyawa and Shanono Local Government Areas of Kano State.
This followed a fresh night attack in Yankamaye village on Saturday, where a woman was killed and three residents were abducted by armed criminals suspected to have infiltrated from neighbouring states.
In a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ismail Mudashir, Senator Barau described the repeated incursions as unacceptable, noting that the latest incident came just days after a similar assault in Biresawa village, also in Tsanyawa LGA.
He urged security operatives to “take the fight to the criminals,” emphasizing that their activities must be halted immediately.
“We will not allow marauding criminals fleeing military operations in neighbouring states to destabilise our peaceful communities,” Barau warned. “The security of our people’s lives and property is paramount, and no stone will be left unturned in restoring safety.”
He further called for intensified rescue operations to ensure the safe return of the abducted victims, reassuring residents that the government remains committed to protecting them from all criminal threats.
