Honourable Adamu Ibrahim Gamawa has reiterated his commitment to transparent and impactful representation during the Nigerian National Assembly Open Week 2025, using the platform to highlight his legislative contributions and grassroots development efforts.
Speaking during the event, Honourable Gamawa emphasized the significance of the Open Week as a platform for deepening democratic engagement. “The open week is an opportunity to engage with them and let them know what we are doing here,” he said, stressing the importance of communicating the National Assembly’s efforts to the public.
Gamawa, who represents his constituency in the House of Representatives, spotlighted his sponsored bills focused on health and judiciary reforms—critical sectors that, according to him, safeguard citizens’ rights. “All of them are bills that will impact on these rights,” he noted.
Beyond legislative work, Gamawa also underscored his efforts to deliver development projects and empower youths and women in his constituency. He described these initiatives as tools for self-reliance and sustainable growth.
Addressing common misconceptions about lawmakers’ duties, Gamawa clarified that many citizens expect the National Assembly to perform roles assigned to local governments. “There are so many things the local government is supposed to be doing, but because it has yet to function well, the citizens expect us to do it,” he explained.
He emphasized that the Open Week was a vital opportunity to educate the public on the true responsibilities of the National Assembly while building trust in the legislative process.
The National Assembly Open Week 2025 continues to serve as a landmark initiative for transparency, accountability, and citizen engagement—principles Honourable Gamawa says he is proud to uphold through his service.
