Gbemacha went agog on Monday, 6th April 2026, as the former Speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Aondona Dajoh, alongside his wife, Mrs Akundushima Dajoh, played host to H.E. Dr. Jeffrey Kuraun and his amiable wife, Her Excellency Mrs Torkwase Kuraun.
Mrs.Torkwase Kuraun, the incoming First Lady of Benue State come 2027, accompanied her husband, Dr Jeffrey Kuraun, the Benue State Governorship hopeful come 2027, to the event with their entourage. The atmosphere was electric as women groups in colourful attires, elders and youth groups thronged the venue, singing traditional songs and dancing to the rhythm of drums as they welcomed the incoming Governor of Benue State.
The former Speaker, Hon. Aondona Dajoh, received Dr. Kuraun and his wife wholeheartedly. In his remarks, he described Dr. Kuraun as a man of proven integrity, competence and compassion — a leader whose track record and humility stand him out. He urged his people to rally behind Dr.Jeffrey Kuraun, stressing that Benue needs a compassionate leader with the vision and character to unite and uplift the state.
Responding, Dr. Jeffrey Kuraun thanked the host and the people of Gbemacha for the overwhelming reception. He spoke with conviction, giving them hope and outlining reasons why unity and purposeful leadership must guide the state come 2027. He assured them that if given the opportunity, his administration would prioritize the welfare of the people, peace and inclusive development.
The crowd was large, excited and encouraging — chanting goodwill songs and waving joyfully as the couple acknowledged cheers from every corner. The reception was a colourful display of warmth, camaraderie and cultural pride, with dignitaries and well-wishers joining the host to receive the visitors.
The historic visit further underscored the goodwill and growing support for Dr. Kuraun across Benue State, as political and community leaders continue to rally around his 2027 governorship aspiration.
