The house of R epresentative has ask the Federal Government to urgently take a step to stop the kidnapping and incessant killings in Makarfi-Kudan communities and its environs.
Hon. Umar Shehu Ajilo made the call in the floor of the Green Chamber in a motion titled, “Need to Stop the Kidnapping and Killings in Danguzuri, Gimi, Guibi, Dako, Randa, and Zage Zagi Communities in Makarfi-Kudan Federal Constituency of Kaduna State”
In his submission, Hon. Umar Shehu Ajilo noted that Section 33 and 41 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,1999 (as amended) provides that every person has the right to life and no one shall be deprived intentionally of his or her life.
He also noted that Section 41 of the Constitution provides that every citizen of Nigeria is entitled to move freely throughout Nigeria, and to reside in any part therein.
The lawmaker expressed worries that the high rate of kidnapping and incessant attacks on the people of Makarfi-Kudan Constituency has led to the death of several people, including Alhaji Musa Nafadi of Danguzuri, Alhaji Ado Dako of Dako village and Alhaji Kurma.
He also told the House that four women and one girl in Gimi and Danguzuri wards of Makarfi Local Government Area, respectively, were kidnapped within the last one week.
Hon. Umar Shehu Ajilo expressed concern that if the menace is not urgently checked, it might spread to other neighbouring communities in Zaria, Katsina and some part of Kano.
Aware that the primary duty and obligation of government is to ensure the protection of the lives and properties of every Nigerians, Hon. Umar Shehu Ajilo resolved that the House wades in by directing the security agencies to put an end to the kidnapping and killings in Makarfi-Kudan Federal Constituency, as well as to bring the culprits involved in the heinous crimes to book.
He also urged the House to mandate the Committee on Police and Army (when constituted) to ensure compliance.
The motion was adopted and referred to the Committee (when constituted).
