The House of Representatives Joint Committee has pledged to thoroughly investigate the allegations of a N15m bribery scandal involving the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Nigerian Correctional Service (NCS), and controversial figure Bobrisky.
Committee lead chairman, Hon. Ginger Onwusibe, emphasized the importance of uncovering the truth behind the bribery allegations, stating that the committee would leave no stone unturned in its quest for transparency and accountability within the government agencies involved.
The committee aims to address the serious allegations of corruption and unprofessional behavior within the NCS and EFCC, and will not tolerate any compromise on its core values of integrity and transparency.
Key focus areas of the investigation include allegations of separate accommodation for Bobrisky outside the NCS facility, EFCC operatives demanding a bribe of ₦15m for a “soft landing” in his case, and financial inducements to facilitate his release through presidential pardon.
While Bobrisky was absent at the hearing, the whistleblower, VeryDarkMan, presented evidence to the committee and shed light on the scandal. The hearing was adjourned to further investigate the allegations and gather more information to get to the root of the matter.
