The Journalists in Abuja on Monday stormed the police headquarters to protest over the continued disappearance of their colleague Tordue Salem.
Tordue a journalist with Vanguard Newspapers was last seen at the national assembly by his colleagues on the 13th October 2021 at about 4pm to 5pm.
A Native of Tiv, in Benue State, who covers the House of Representatives at the National Assembly.
The Nigeria Union of Journalists NUJ FCT chapter had earlier raised an alarm over his sudden disappearance
which they have asked the police and DSS to help unravel the mystery surrounding Mr. Salem’s whereabouts.
For the past few days, all efforts and prayers by NUJ, colleagues at houses of representative and other meaning Nigeria to locate him was unsuccessful.
On Monday 25th of October 2021, the Nigeria union of journalists NUJ lead by union Chairman, Emmanuel Ogbeche and other members stage a peaceful protest at the force headquarters demand for more action from police.
According to Mr Ogbeche, “It is worry some that an adult will simply vanish into thin air without a trace. This is unacceptable and we urge the police and DSS to rise up to the occasion and provide answers to this troubling situation”
The Protestant was addressed by Force public relations CP Frank Mba , saying efforts are ongoing to locate Mr. Salem, and assured that the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Usman Baba is interested in the case and would see it to the end.
