President of the Senate Applauds President Tinubu’s Swift Response to Borno Flood Disaster

President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio, CON, praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR for his swift response to the devastating floods in Maiduguri and other states caused by overflowing from the Alau Dam. Akpabio commended Tinubu during the President’s visit to Borno State and the Shehu of Borno, Abubakar Ibn Umar Garba Al Amin El-Kanemi in Maiduguri.
President Tinubu, who diverted from a trip to the United Nations General Assembly in New York, led a delegation to commiserate with the flood-affected states. Akpabio, also the chairman of the National Assembly, assured the president of the parliament’s readiness to support the Federal Government’s efforts in disaster mitigation.
Akpabio praised Tinubu’s compassion and commitment to Nigerians’ safety and welfare, promising to mobilize the National Assembly to complement government efforts. He also pledged to contribute to the Special Disaster Intervention Fund and expressed gratitude to stakeholders for their quick response to the disaster.
The Senate President commended Governor Babagana Zulum for his proactive approach in assisting flood victims and expressed support for all government initiatives aimed at helping Nigerians. Akpabio lauded Tinubu’s establishment of a Special Disaster Intervention Fund from FAAC allocations, highlighting the president’s dedication to good governance and transformational leadership.
