Senate Minority Leader, Sen. Abba Moro, has commended President Bola Tinubu for signing the North Central Development Commission (NCDC) Bill into law.
Senator Moro stated on Tuesday while speaking to journalists in his office in Abuja.
He equally hailed the efforts of the 10th Senate leadership in making this dream a reality.
According to him,the entire leadership in the North central are grateful to Mr. President and the leadership of the 10th Senate for making this possible Other zone have had their development commissions in the past but today, it is North Central region he said.
He highlighted the importance of the commissions in development of the entire country and create employment for youth.
He said ,federal government cannot be everywhere at the same time in Communities and regions must be empowered to take charge of their destinies. The NCDC will help address infrastructure deficits, improve education, and enhance overall development in our region.”
Senator Moro urged the federal government to allocate funds for the commission’s operations in the current budget, ensuring its swift takeoff.
“We expect Mr. President to support the commission’s management, just as he has done for others. By the grace of God, we anticipate the appointment of competent individuals from the North Central Zone to lead this initiative effectively.”
The bill, which was sponsored by Senator Moro in 2024, aims to drive development in the North Central region.
He also called for the immediate constitution of the leadership for the Federal College of Agricultural Technology, emphasizing its role in advancing food security through agricultural training.
“This college will equip agricultural technologists, strengthening the government’s capacity to ensure food security. We urge Mr. President to expedite the process.”
Senator Moro reaffirmed his commitment to fostering development and expressed optimism that the NCDC will fulfill its mandate, benefiting not just the North Central Zone, but the entire nation.
