As Nigeria prepares to celebrate its 64th Independence Day tomorrow, Senator Barau I. Jibrin, the Deputy President of the Senate, has extended his greetings to all Nigerians and called for unity and support for the government’s efforts to improve the country’s situation. In a statement released by his media aide, Ismail Mudashir, Senator Barau emphasized the importance of promoting national unity and working together towards a brighter future for the nation.
The federal government has declared Tuesday, October 1st, a public holiday in observance of Nigeria’s Independence Day celebration. Senator Barau appealed to those planning protests on October 1st to reconsider their plans and instead focus on supporting the government in its initiatives to address economic challenges and security issues.
In his message, Senator Barau highlighted the sacrifices made by Nigeria’s founding fathers and called on all citizens to uphold the values of unity, peace, justice, and tolerance. He expressed confidence in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s leadership and pledged to support the administration’s policies and programs aimed at advancing the country.
With Senator Godswill Obot Akpabio leading the Senate, Senator Barau assured that the parliament would continue to promote good governance and collaborate with the executive to enact laws that benefit the nation. He mentioned the ongoing efforts of the Senate Committee on the Review of the 1999 Constitution to amend the constitution in line with the aspirations of Nigerians.
Senator Barau commended President Tinubu for appointing members to the North West Development Commission Governing Board, a move that demonstrates the government’s commitment to addressing challenges in the North West region. He concluded by emphasizing the importance of working together to build a stronger constitutional framework for Nigeria and create a better future for all citizens.
