The, House of Representatives Committee on mines and Steel Development has promised to give legislative support to mining development in the country.
The chairman of the house committee on mines and steel development, Hon.Ibrahim Abdullahi Halims, stated these why advising the minister and other management team of the ministry during the budget presentation at national assembly in Abuja.
According to him,mines and steel if more attention is put on,it will create more employment opportunity to the terming youth.
Hon.Halims who represting Ankpa/Olamaboro and Omala federal constituency of kogi state express worry over the delay full operation of Ajaokuta and steel company across the country which have help in reducing unemployment in the country.
According to him, member of his committee are ready to give legislative support to the ministry to achieved it objective for speedy development in the country.
Earlier in his budget presentation, the Hon minister of mines and steel development Mr Olamilekan Adegbite explained the challenges of the ministry these includes funding of mining police and the activities of illegal miners.
According to minister, President muhammadu Bahari has given an approval to technical auditing of Ajaokuta steel company and other steel companies across the country but only waiting for council of state for final approval.
The minister who leads the other management of the ministry includes minister of state Hon.Abubakar Bawa, parament secretary Dr,Oluwatoyin Akinlade and Directors of the ministry.
He listed outdated laws as one of the main factors that were frustrating the development of the sector, consequently frustrating Nigeria from achieving its target.
He stated that a functional steel industry will create more job and guarantee economic growth.
