Nearly a 3 weeks after the emerging of the senate minority leadership, Deputy minority Senator Oyewumi kamorudeen olalere has come out to clear the air on the support of his party PDP.
Senator Olalere representing Osun West senatorial district in the 10th National Assembly and also a chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) emergence as the Deputy minority leader in the 10th National Assembly says whatever the speculations going on are just rumors, I can tell you categorically that our great party the PDP are in full support of my emergence as the minority leader.
why speaking with the Journalists in his office says,their emergence as Senate minority leader enjoy over warming support of the party as they have not bridge the guidelines of the National Assembly.
According to him,the house has a rule, the Senate also has a rule that guide his operations, when you look at section 27 of the house, he says Senate shall appoint his principals officer from among the members, we made it very official, the minority caucus 36 out of the 50 appended their signatures, what you saw as a reaction or speculations going on if there’s any is that some of our senators, time didn’t permit us to visit everybody for their support because they don’t know that some of our members have sign, so it was practically impossible to visit all the Senators for their signatures because then we’re in recession, when they discovered that over 30 senators have sign they where like why didn’t you tell us, so my people there’s no issues of crack in the party for now.
Senator Oyewumi also speak on alleged speculations of list influence by former governor wike of River state, that’s the list was just a rumor, that he is from Osun in south west the minority leader of the 10th National Assembly, my Governor Senator Adeleke supported me, other leaders were also supported by their governor like sermon lalong supported his candidate from the state, it was not just a one man show leadership of the party were also involved so all were carried along even the Labour Party all signed.
He explain the role the party will play as opposition that will help deeply democracy in Nigeria.he says just looked at the ruling party when Sen. Akpabio was announced they worked for it, they didn’t just go and sit down and wait for manners to fall from heaven, let me tell you this, assuming they went and sleep you could’ve hear a different person emerging as Senate President, so they really work for it, so party played major roles in selecting leadership of National Assembly, the major thing that guided the choice of minority was fairness, the current senate president is from Akwa Ibom which is south south, the speaker of House of Representatives is from Kaduna North west, the Deputy senate president is from Kano also North west, the leadership of the 10th Assembly was shared across the regions in Nigeria.
Senator representing Osun west Sen. Oyewumi further emphasized on doing much in his senatorial district counting on hundred days in office, says they’re just starting by the time all is set the good people of Osun west will testify, say’s there’s nobody that will go to the market and will not say his product is good, is people that’ll testify of your product, we’re ready for the job and we’ll deliver by God’s grace.
He give the in site of what Nigeria should expect in the 10th national Assembly as corrective assembly, that’s the tag we named it, because is going to be different from the 9th Assembly that was tagged robber stamp Assembly, the corrective assembly is what Nigerians are expecting from us, you can see how the leadership of the national assembly was changed, because a lot’s of people were expecting the regular faces they used to see, look things have change, Nigerians are expecting more from us, we have come to the realities that a lot of things need to be corrected, nobody voted us to go and fight but to do the right thing and to better the life of the common masses on the street.
when they are doing well we do it together, we’re not they to play politics, we’re here for Nigerians, we must join hands with the ruling party to make Nigeria great.
Senator Oyewumi stress that, is not by accident they coin this 10th Assembly corrective assembly, that they notice some lapses by the previous government that they need to corrected if we all say the previous government are bad that we will not associate with them, there a lot of people in the previous government that are here in this 10th assembly, is not a one man show, are you telling me is only Former President Buhari that is there? we just have to work together for the common good of the Nigeria people.
I will categorically tell you that a lot of issues has come up which the Senators are investigating and trying to correct, you’ve seen what we have done within three weeks, i promised you all that few months to come Nigerians will see different National Assembly, there’s nothing we’ll say now that will convince Nigerians, but by his grace Nigerians will testify from previous national Assembly.
In conclusion he also call on all members to be calm and let all put hands together to make 10th Assembly a good one for all Nigerians
