The Chairman House Representative committee on Army described the death of former Chief of Army Staff General Taoreed Lagbaja as tragic and the great lost to Nigeria.
The Chairman House Representative committee on Army, Hon. Aminu Balele Kurfi stated this during the condolence visit to the new Acting. Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General Olafemi Oluyede in his office in Abuja.
According to him, General Lagbaja died when the country needed him most,saying that Lagbaja will be remembered by all Nigerian because of his dedication and service to his fatherland.
He further stated that the demise of General Lagbaja as a profound loss, not only his exemplary leadership but his dedication to the Nigerian military.
He said this should encourage Nigeria Army and serve as a call to service that whatever you do in life is what you will be remembered for.
Further says the House Representative under the Leadership of Speaker RT Hon Tajudeen Abbas will continue to support the Nigeria Military to ensure Nigeria becomes a crime free society.
Hon.Aminu urged the new Chief of Army Staff to continue the good Job late Chief of Army Staff General Lagbaja.
Responding Acting Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Olafemi Oluyede, expressed profound sorrow over the passing of Lt. Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja, he acknowledged the efforts of the government under President Bola Tinubu’s leadership to support the late general’s health, he affirmed his passing as ultimately God’s decision.
General Olufemi Oluyede thanked the House Representative for standing by the Nigeria Army in this trying moment in the history of Nigerian Army.
General.Olatubosun described late General Lagbaja as very dedicated and professional officer who believed in achieving result.
According to him,he has known General Lagbaja for many years as classmate who he has worked closely with.
He assured Nigerians of the readiness of Nigerian Army to ensure Nigeria remains a peaceful country, called for total support of all Nigerians.
Hon. Aminu proceeded on the Condolence visit to the family of late General Lagbaja after he signed condolence register and met with the window Mrs. Mariya Abiodun Lagbaja
General Lagbaja died on Tuesday 5th November 2024 after a brief illness.
