The Chairman of the House Committee on Sports, Hon Kabiru Amadu, has congratulated the Super Eagles and the Ibrahim Gusau-led Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) on their 2-0 victory over Rwanda in Kigali, reigniting Nigeria’s hopes of qualifying for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Amadu, who represents the Gusau/Tsafe Federal constituency, praised the team for their performance but urged them to stay focused for the remaining fixtures, especially the crucial matchday 6 clash against Zimbabwe in Uyo.
He said, “I want to congratulate the NFF and the Super Eagles for the victory the Nigeria national team picked in Kigali today. When they came for budget defense at the National Assembly, the NFF promised to do everything possible to ensure Nigeria does not miss the World Cup back to back.
Today, with the 2-0 victory, it’s becoming a reality. However, it is not over yet. The eyes of the players and the officials must be on the ball always until the remaining matches are won.”
With this win, the Super Eagles now sit with 6 points from 5 games, while South Africa leads Group C with 10 points after defeating Lesotho 2-0. Benin Republic holds second place with 8 points, followed by Rwanda with 7 points. The road to qualification is still open, and all eyes are now on Nigeria’s next crucial match.
