Umuahia, Abia State — The HallowMace Foundation Africa has responded to allegations made by Hon. Obinna Ichita against Senator Enyinnaya Harcourt Abaribe, describing them as “baseless distortions” and insisting that the lawmaker’s record of service to Abia South and Nigeria is verifiable.

In a statement issued by its Executive Director, Anderson Osiebe, the foundation highlighted Senator Abaribe’s contributions both at the national level and within his constituency. It noted that as a lawmaker, the senator has sponsored and co-sponsored significant bills, including amendments to the Electricity Act, the establishment of a Federal University of Petroleum and Geological Sciences in Ukwa West, and the creation of a regulatory body for outdoor advertising. He also moved a motion to immortalize Prof. Humphrey Nwosu, who supervised the historic June 12 elections.

The foundation recalled that Abaribe previously served as Senate Minority Leader (2019–2022) and currently chairs the Senate Committee on Power, a position it said has given the South East a strong voice in national discourse.

On constituency development, HallowMace stated that between 2023 and 2025, the senator facilitated solar streetlights in 139 communities, attracted a ₦235 million 33KVA transmission line from Ovom to Azumini, provided transformers, and supported the rehabilitation of roads in Aba North, Aba South, and the Aba–Azumini corridor. Other interventions listed include the distribution of educational materials across all six local government areas, support for sports development in Obehie, and securing federal job placements and training programmes for constituents.

The foundation dismissed claims that Abaribe had a “zero scorecard” or acted out of “ingratitude to APGA,” stressing that the senator has a consistent record of defending democratic freedoms, citing his decision to stand surety for Mazi Nnamdi Kanu in 2018 despite personal risk. It added that his recent endorsement of Governor Alex Otti was based on recognition of good governance.

“HallowMace Foundation maintains that Senator Abaribe remains a steadfast advocate of democracy, a fearless voice for justice, and a facilitator of development,” the statement read. “Known as Nmagha Ndigbo (Pride of the Igbo People), he continues to represent Abia South with integrity and courage.”
