The Chairman of the House Committee on Sports, Hon. Kabiru Amadu, has charged the Super Eagles to remain mentally, psychologically, and physically prepared ahead of their Round of 16 fixture at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

Nigeria became the second team to qualify for the knockout stage after a hard-fought 3–2 victory over Tunisia on Saturday evening in their second group match.

Victor Osimhen, who earlier had a 17th-minute effort ruled out for offside, eventually broke the deadlock before receiving a yellow card for an inappropriate gesture during his celebration. Wilfred Ndidi doubled Nigeria’s advantage shortly after the interval, giving the Super Eagles firm control of the game.

Ademola Lookman later extended Nigeria’s lead, calmly finishing from an Osimhen assist to put the Super Eagles further ahead. Tunisia, however, mounted a late comeback with two goals, setting up a tense finish, but Nigeria held on to secure maximum points and confirm qualification for the Round of 16.

Representing the Chairman House Committee On Sports in Morocco, the Deputy Chairman , Honourable Mohammed Jajere, while reacting to the achievement, praised the team’s resilience and ability to withstand pressure.

“On behalf of the Committee’s Chairman, I congratulate the Super Eagles for winning their first two group games, which has qualified Nigeria for the Round of 16,” he said. “Although the final group match against Uganda is a dead-rubber game, I advise the coach to use the opportunity to rest some regular players and give fresh legs a chance. However, the team must not lose focus on the ultimate goal of lifting the trophy.”

He further reassured the team of the full support of the Federal Government and the National Assembly as they continue their quest for continental glory.

Nigeria, three-time African champions, currently top their group with six points from two matches, while Tunisia sit second with three points.
