Hon. Terseer Ugbor, the Deputy Chairman of the House Committee on the Environment, has expressed optimism that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s 2025 budget will bring significant democratic dividends to Nigerians. Addressing members of the National Assembly New Media Forum after the budget presentation, Ugbor described the budget as a “budget of hope,” highlighting the government’s focus on key sectors such as infrastructure, education, healthcare, agriculture, and security.
Ugbor emphasized that these critical areas would drive economic growth and improve the lives of Nigerians, despite challenges posed by insecurity, climate change, and regional issues. The Deputy Chairman noted that the 2025 budget, allocating a record 4.7 trillion naira, is the largest in the country’s history, reflecting the government’s commitment to development and citizens’ needs. He pointed out that the budget prioritizes reforms to benefit constituents affected by insecurity and agricultural setbacks.
Commending the President’s efforts to fund local government autonomy and constituency projects fully, Ugbor highlighted the importance of federal resources reaching remote communities. He underscored the significance of local government autonomy in ensuring every Nigerian benefits from the budget’s impact.
Ugbor reiterated the government’s determination to meet Nigerians’ expectations, especially in critical areas. He expressed confidence that ongoing reforms and increased budgetary allocations would lead to progress across the country. Ugbor urged patience, emphasizing that the impact of the reforms would be evident over time. He assured Nigerians that the 2025 budget would bring widespread benefits, with infrastructure developments reaching every community.
