Senator Barau I Jibrin, Deputy President of the Senate, has unveiled the North West Development Commission (NWDC) as a solution to bridge infrastructure gaps in the seven states of the North West geopolitical zone. The establishment of the NWDC was approved by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on July 23, following the signing of the NWDC establishment Bill sponsored by Senator Barau to address challenges posed by activities of Boko Haram insurgents and bandits in the region.
During a meeting with constituents from Shanono local government area of Kano North Senatorial District at the National Assembly in Abuja, Senator Barau expressed confidence in the imminent launch of the commission. He emphasized that the NWDC aims to accelerate infrastructural development in the North West region.
“President Tinubu is dedicated to alleviating the hardships faced by the people. With the NWDC having its headquarters in Kano, the region will witness a significant transformation in infrastructural development,” Senator Barau stated in a press release issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ismail Mudashir.
He urged constituents to extend their support to the President’s initiatives for the overall progress and prosperity of the country. Adding, “We will continue to provide legislative support to the executive arm to revitalize our nation’s economy for the welfare of all citizens.”
Acknowledging Senator Barau’s commitment to North development, Alhaji Adamu Saidu, Chairman of the APC Caucus of the LGA, commended the Senator for his impactful interventions, particularly the recent distribution of fertilizers that have bolstered agricultural productivity and livelihoods in the region.
