The Former Senate Leader and Senator Representing Kebbi State under the platform of PDP Senator Yahyah Abubakar Abdullahi says the 10th National Assembly will elect the leadership that will unite the entire Senate no matter the political affiliation.
Sen. Abdullahi stated this while speaking to newsmen in his office at the National Assembly Abuja.
He says, with his experience in the Senate in the last eight years, he thinks all tussle of leadership is politics. Politics is about nation building he says “
According him, the most important thing is to work across party lines perceive what their interest is and the interest of the Senate as one would want to survive before saving others.
He says,working for Nigeria is not something to play politics with no matter the party affiliation,that the entire Senate has to work as one family for the progress of Nigeria.
According to him, Nigeria should expect the leadership in National Assembly that will unite the Senate and Nigeria in general.
In setting the agenda for the new president Bola Tinubu,Sen.Abdullahi says the president should as a matter of urgency focus on Agriculture that it will boost food security.
He says, in doing that issue of insecurity, castle rustler has to be addressed,says without secured environment there will be no condusive environment for agriculture.”
According to him,the key presidential appointment of key institutions and key issues of policy, in the Senate. Now If anybody toys with the Senate and allows some scheming to happen within the Senate, the executive cannot perform optimally.
He says, most important thing for the president to do is look at the problem of herding community in particular because this is one area that has been completely mismanaged. “We have been talking without action and this have led to a lot of insecurity because we have not managed the livestock sector properly and the people who are engaged in livestock production have more or less been completely abandoned by government because the way the government was managing the herdsmen, they became violent”
He emphasize the important of leadership which can unite the Senate and the Senate itself has to be united because if the institution is not united, public policy is possibly going to collapse.
