The House of Representatives on Tuesday received a solemn announcement of the passing of Olorogun Dr. Oscar Christopher James Ibru, a prominent Nigerian industrialist and heir to the iconic Ibru dynasty. His death occurred on September 24, 2025.
The announcement was made by Hon. Anamero Dekeri, Member Representing Etsako Federal Constituency, who described the late business titan
Dr. Oscar Ibru, widely regarded as one of the pillars of Nigeria’s entrepreneurial community, played a major role across aviation, hospitality, oil and gas, maritime, media, and banking.
Hon. Dekeri noted that Dr. Ibru’s life and legacy “touched millions across the globe,” adding that his noble deeds and patriotism would remain a reference point for generations.
He urged the House to observe a minute of silence in honour of the departed icon and announced that the final burial rites would commence on November 20, 2025.
