In a powerful display of cultural unity and advocacy, High Chief Temitope Fawehinmi, the Gbajeniyi of Egbaland and a key member of the Presidential Committee on Economic and Financial Inclusion, paid a courtesy visit to the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Abimbola Owoade, Elewu Etu I, at his private residence in Oyo State.

The high-level visit underscored the Federal Government’s drive to promote gender equality and economic inclusion, particularly for women in rural and cultural communities.

During the meeting, Fawehinmi emphasized the importance of empowering women, stating, “We need to start looking at the saved people in our communities. We will start here in Oyo, especially with the women, because we need to empower the women. We need to support them.”

Describing the visit as a “powerful exchange rooted in mutual respect, cultural pride, and a shared vision,” Fawehinmi praised the strength and unity of the Gbajeniyi women who accompanied her from both Egbaland and Oyo. Their presence, she noted, symbolized the enduring spirit of sisterhood and cultural solidarity.

The Alaafin, in his response, expressed deep appreciation for Fawehinmi’s visit and advocacy. He reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening the bond between Oyo and Egbaland and pledged his continued support for initiatives that preserve Yoruba culture while uplifting its people—especially women.

The meeting was marked by traditional warmth, mutual respect, and a renewed commitment to advancing cultural and economic progress in Yoruba communities.
