Senator representing Kebbi South Senatorial District, Garba Maidoki, say,the creation of State Police in Nigeria is not realistic as he say the state Governors will abused the purpose.
Sen.Maidoki stated this on Wednesday while speaking with Journalists on the State security in Nigeria.
According to him,if the state governor are using Executive Power to influenced the Election in their various Local Government through state Resident Electoral Commission, payment of salaries at the local government level, it cleared that Nigeria is not ready for state Police.
He question the magic the governors will used to get the fund for payment of salaries of state Police if established without been used the governor..
Sen Maidoki, is a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from Kebbi State lamented how Nigeria Security agencies especially Nigeria Military has not leave to the expectations of Nigeria the primary responsibilities of protection of life and properties.
He however reviewed how the governor Kebbi State spends N500 million to Nigerian Army and other security agencies without result,
He says, despite the monthly package paid to the Nigerian Army, many of the communities are still under siege by terrorists and the lives of the residents are threatened
“I think if the Nigerian Army relies on the governors to give them money to mobilise for operation, I think, in this country, we are not making any headways ”he says”
He however, cautioned the military of solely depend on the State governors before mobilising troop for operations
