The Northern Senators Forum has expressed its deepest condolences to the people and government of Borno State over the loss of lives and property resulting from the collapse of the Alau Dam.
In a statement signed by the Chairman Sen Abdulaziz Musa Yar’Adua,the forum sympathized with the families of the victims and those displaced by the devastating flood.
They commended Vice President Kashim Shettima for his prompt visit to assess the situation and provide leadership during this challenging time,saying his swift response demonstrates the government’s commitment to supporting affected communities.
The Forum also appreciated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for approving 3 billion naira for each state to address flood and disaster relief efforts.
The Senate, according to the Forum, will continue to pursue legislation and policies that mitigate the effects of environmental disasters and promote sustainable development.
