The Senator representing Plateau North, Pam Dachungyang has applauded the nomination and screening of Dr. Bernard Muhammad Odoro as Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, describing it as a welcome development.

Speaking to journalists in his office shortly after the screening by Senate , the lawmaker noted that the nomination was particularly significant to him as Dr. Odoro hails from Bassa Local Government Area within his constituency.

According to him, this will help creating Jobs for our people and also help our people who in IDP camp so we are very happy that someone from our constituency was found worthy by the President. It’s a wonderful experience to see him chosen to serve as a minister of the Federal Republic,” he said.

The Senator also applauded President Bola Tinubu’s decision to elevate Dr. Nentawe Yilwatda, the former Minister representing Plateau State, to the position of National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), saying the development reflects well on Plateau’s political fortunes.

On the issue of increasing number of strategic national appointments of key position in the North Central the lawmaker says while thanking the President Bola Tinubu for that,he dismissed suggestions of favoritism, describing the appointments as “God’s will that the North Central can equally produced president that appointment is under the control of whoever appointed you but elected is more better he said.

On the issue of peace and security in Plateau State, the Senator pledged to work with the incoming Minister of Humanitarian Affairs to ensure lasting peace and support for internally displaced persons (IDPs).

“The new minister is from a community that has also suffered from crisis. God knows why he brought him there — to help his people and others. Peace is essential for development, and we are already seeing improvement,” he said.

When asked if the series of appointments could translate into electoral gains for the APC in Plateau, the Senator was cautious, noting that political dynamics in the state are complex.

“Politics is dynamic. It’s not positions that determine elections — it’s performance. Plateau has always been a PDP stronghold. Even with ministers in the past, APC still lost. What matters is what leaders do for the people,” he explained.

He further emphasized that voters you got is all about good governance you provided not because of how many political Appointment you have given the state or the region

“If the President performs well, people will vote for him. But if those he appoints fail to deliver, it affects him politically,” he warned.

The Senator, who belongs to the ADP, concluded by calling on all political actors to focus on service delivery and peacebuilding, stressing that “where there is no peace, there is no development.”
